Trailers live a rough life: overloaded one weekend, bounced empty down a gravel road the next, and stored outside in Lower Mainland rain in between. Every bump flexes the frame, and flex finds the weakest weld. The good news — cracked trailers are bread-and-butter welding work, and a proper repair usually comes back stronger than the factory joint.
Cracks in a trailer frame are fatigue cracks: every cycle of load and vibration pushes the tip of the crack a little further. That's why a hairline that has been "fine for months" suddenly isn't. The earlier a crack gets repaired, the smaller and cheaper the job — and the less chance it picks the middle of a highway trip to finish the job on its own.
